Telemarketing Scam
Targets Local Seniors
 Telemarketing fraud is a multi-billion dollar business in the United States. Every year, thousands of consumers lose as little as a few dollars to as much as their life savings to telephone con artists. If you are age 60 or older, you may be a special target for people who sell bogus products and services by phone.
The latest telephone scam targeting Tulsa residents is the offer of a "medical discount." The victim is told that this discount will mean extra savings on their Medicare medical and drug costs. They may also be told that the card has been endorsed by a trusted organization such as the American Heart or American Diabetes associations. These organizations do not endorse medical cards.

You can place your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. Register your phone number at www.DoNotCall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236).
If you suspect fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices, you can file a complaint at www.ftc.gov or call, toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261.
