LIFE Stories

LIFE Testimonial Patricia Mill"Thank you for helping me to get
my independence back."

Several years ago, I was diagnosed with autoimmune liver disease. In January, 2010 I started attending LIFE’s Adult Day Center on Pine because I needed someone to watch over me during the day while my daughter went to work. I was unhappy about my diagnosis, having to live with my daughter, and very unhappy about having to go to ADS. I didn’t want to have to monitor my blood sugar or my food intake or have anyone else do it for me. There were times that I just went into the quiet room and shut the door so nobody would bother me.

But little by little, I started opening up to the other participants and eventually to the staff. I began to take part in the crafts, games, and activities, and form strong bonds with the group of ladies that sat at my table. Now, I am the choir director of the “Pine LIFE Senior choir”, I serve on the participant council, and am in charge of the upkeep and gardening of our flowerbeds. I have recently moved to my own apartment again, and I am also on the waiting list for a liver transplant!

Being at LIFE’s ADS has truly helped me change my life. I am surrounded every day by people who truly care for me, and I have purpose in my life once again. Thank you LIFE’s Adult Day Services for helping me get my independence back.

LIFE Testimonial Donna Beville"It’s overwhelming when the children suddenly are dealing with the elder parents."

You just have so much information to aquire. Case Management was there, they guided us completely through. I can’t fathom how people make it through the maze without the assistance.

LIFE Testimonial Ed"Coming here (LIFE’s Senior Center)
has helped me understand how important it is to stay involved."

Coming here has helped me understand how important it is to stay involved in things. What a difference staying involved and having friends and meeting new people makes in peoples’ attitudes. It gives them life. It’s a wonderful thing.
